First listening to Acid House/Rave music around 1991 through various tape packs like Helter Skelter and Dreamscape, Simon always had a fascination with electronic music and gained interest in it and it’s emerging genres through the 90s. Enter 1997 and Simon starts collecting records and grabbing every chance he can get to get his hands on decks, the next 4 years are spent mixing tapes, collecting records and finding his own sound whilst being influenced by the raves he attended religiously each week.
Simon was given his first set in 2001 at UK Superclub Dance Academy, building a reputation with his own style of turntablism, his ability to read the crowd and his energetic stage presence meant it would not be long before Simon was a regular feature in the main room and later resident playing on tours from Mixmag, Serious, Lashed, Goodgreef and more alongside some of the biggest names of the era.
Between 2003 and 2004 Simon would go on to co-create and promote club nights Premonition and later his own brand Eternal. Finally 2005 gave birth to his biggest venture yet Electra, which becomes his own Artist Management, Record Label and Promotions Company managing some of the World’s best producers and DJs. The Electra Radio Show started in January 2006 as a monthly show on ETN.FM. Since its launch it has changed to a three hour show featuring guest mixes from artists like Marco V, Ferry Corsten, Fred Baker, Cor Fijneman, Marcel Woods, Sander van Doorn, Blank & Jones, Thomas Bronzwaer, Aly & Fila, JFK, Joop and lots more along with the first hour being opened by Simon on every show.
Over the years Simon has developed his own unique sound, which can only be called Simon Pitt style! It pulls influences from Trance, Techno, Tech-Trance and many other forms of EDM which is why you can’t pin a genre to his name, he simply embodies the whole electronic dance movement taking inspiration from all forms of music and there own energy to create his own sound, sorting through hundreds of release’s each month to find the music which defines him the most.
In a short space of time Simon Pitt has already performed for brands such as Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, Slinky, Passion, Ministry Of Sound, Dance Academy, Pulse Factory, Koolwaters, The Bridge, Claires, Lakota, Barracuda, The Grove, Resonance, Premonition, Tranzaction, Tall Trees, Candystore, Religion and many more playing with some of the worlds leading DJs like Judge Jules, Marco V, Fred Baker, Marcel Woods, Ronald van Gelderen, Matt Hardwick, Scot Project, Yoji Biomehanika, Cor Fijneman, Mark Norman, Agnelli & Nelson, Lisa Lashes, Benny Benassi, JFK, Anne Savage, John Kelly, Dan Bailey, BK, Patrae Foy, Lab4, Adam Sheridan, Randy Katana, Mark EG, Proteus, M-Zone, Rob Tissera, Marc Vedo, Scott Mac, Lisa Pin-Up, Amber D, BK, Ed Real, Shwarze Puppen, Tidy Boys, Paul Kershaw, Don Diablo, Sophie Sugar, Uberdruck, Tara Reynolds, Flutlicht, Charlotte Birch, Trance Generators, Brisky, Lee Haslam, Scott Brown, Hixxy, DJ Sy and many more.
In 2007 Simon teamed up with Godskitchen and Barracuda in Newquay to arrange in association with Electra the biggest summer of clubbing in the South West’s history. Dubbed the ‘Ibiza of England’ Newquay is seen as the first choice summer destination in the country recognising this potential years ago Simon has been heavily instrumental in putting together Godskitchen as a weekly event all summer in the regions top venue Barracuda. Being involved in all aspects from lineups to promotion, budgets to décor has meant that a huge summer now lies ahead as Newquay comes to the countrys attention with a massive nationwide advertising campaign. Simon will also perform ten dates this summer as Godskitchen Resident for Newquay.
When you combine Simon’s work ethic, dedication to the scene, industry knowledge and unmatched passion for his work, it’s not hard to see that a huge future lies ahead. With future dates also lined up for Passion, Eden Ibiza for Gatecrasher & Koolwaters, his Godskitchen summer residency and the luanch of the Electra Record Label this summer including his own tracks and remixes, it’s clear to see that Simon is fast becoming a Future Hero for the New Generation.
